Spirituality is The Basis for Happiness

When you do not need Anything, you have Everything.  – Lord Buddha

In the present times of gloom and doom, when values are declining and morals are reclining and the celebrated values like honesty, integrity, nobility, morals, ethics, virtues, justice and righteousness are proving hollow giving way to corruption that has impoverished the whole societal set up, solace lies in spirituality.

Spirituality brings out the divinity in every individual. Spirituality is a love affair with God. It focuses a person’s attention to the divine effulgence radiating from one’s own heart. God is not something external, he is inside us. The mind is the key instrument in a human being’s body, a proper regulation of which, with meditation and spiritual guidance, can help one evolve spiritually to the highest.

Only spirituality can initiate the process of inner expansion and eventual freedom from finite existence and supreme self realization. True spirituality could be achieved through selfless service to humanity and leading a life of righteousness.

The core message of the Vedas is for man to strive for liberation from the perpetual cycle of birth and death. This is achieved when the living being realises its true self, the soul and re-establishes its forgotten relationship with Super-soul or God.

Manifest Infinity with Spirituality

When we liberate ourselves from the limitations of phenomenal existence and obtain oneness with the absolute, we attain infinite freedom, power, peace, joy and perfection. Transformation of our entire inner nature, of our thoughts, emotions, energies is a wonderful way of acquiring tremendous spiritual powers.

Problems & Set-backs Are Lessons from Life

Spiritually, all our problems and set-backs are merely lessons for us from life, acted out through people, events and places and leading our self evolution. There are no full stops in life, only commas. And sooner we learn our lessons, the faster our life moves forward in a more harmonious manner. Treat life not as an imposition but as a gift from God to be loved and to be cherished.  Move on the pathway of life with faith and courage, and the confidence that He is with you. Accept life with all its trials and tribulations. Acceptance of whatever is, will solve half of your problems.

Love, mercy, forgiveness, peace, compassion etc., are the essence of the Sattavic path. It is important to use them to attain the ultimate goal -salvation.

The Four-fold principles of human existence are

  1. The body is for benevolent living,
  2. The mind for contemplating on God,
  3. Discriminative intellect for distinguishing between right and wrong and
  4. Life itself for acquisition of divine knowledge leading to self-realization.

Being spiritual minded is practical, as it helps a person develop a proper mental attitude towards the changing circumstances and problems of life. Through science deals with energy and matter, there is a spiritual science which deals with the ‘beyond mind’ state of a human being. While material science enhances ego, spiritual science annihilates it.

“Enjoy every moment of life and live it to the fullest. Live the ‘present moment’ with zest and not worry about the past or future.”

Peace of mind arises out of spiritual growth. It is true that spiritual growth is an inward process, that spiritual life is an inward life. But it is equally true that such inward growth is greatly aided by external support and greatly marred by external incompatibles. Hence, importance of Sattvic diet, Sattvic dress, Sattvic reading, Sattvic company, Sattvic habits and Sattvic environment.

We rise above darkness and sin to see the eternal light and realize the presence of the Most Enlightened one. Rise higher and see brighter light; a step still higher and realize omnipresent God who is the pristine source of Enlightenment.

As the new age dawns, materialism will automatically lag behind Spirituality and people will live the Vedanta in their daily lives.

“Faith in God, faith in religion and faith in one’s self make a man an enlightened being. Faith in holy scriptures helps a man rise above darkness and see the Light. Faith is a source of inspiration too. Many a time in life, one feels that one is down in the dumps. Morale sags. One sees and feels darkness all around. It is here that faith in God and the Vedas helps one see light at the end of the tunnel. Faith gives one a breather when it is needed most. Faith can even bring a man back from the fallows.”

Considering its importance, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in a striking contrast organized a Millennium All Faith Summit, which was attended by 1000 religious and spiritual leaders of the world to achieve the objective of coordinating the religious leadership for building tolerance, fostering peace and encouraging inter religious dialogue among all religions. This remarkable gathering was without precedent in its 50 years history of UNGA. Now, with nearly 83% of the world’s population adhering to some religious or spiritual belief system, religion and spirituality would be the dynamic force that the World Peace Summit wanted to seek to develop for peace, advocacy and resolution.

An individual or a nation must strive for material growth and scientific advances but material prosperity can lead to true happiness only if there is a base of spirituality. Secular spirituality helps one to progress in the worldly affairs and still helps one realize at the experiential level that material comforts, worldly pleasures, fame and power are fragile and ephemeral and they alone cannot give lasting happiness. Happiness is present in our life yet because we think that happiness comes from outside we constantly loose touch with it.

Social studies reveal that high spiritual and emotional quotient are normally associated with high degree of integrity, honesty, responsibility and care and concern for others and accounts for nearly 70% of over all rating.

Spirituality is the Basis for Happiness” is written by Dr. B. L. Tekriwal which was published in Kalyan Kalpataru in July 2009.

Honesty leads to Happiness

Can honesty lead to happiness, will it help us in un-cluttering our problems and tensions. Well, yest… honesty means transparency and thus nothing to hold or left for worries.

Do you think honesty is related to success and happiness in life. Understanding a simple principle can lead to more comfortable life.

Our environment today is more polluted then it was a year ago, our food chain is more vulnerable today then it was some time back.

Today we are not actually enjoying life but we are only surviving, the physical environment is actually getting more and more polluted day by day which can be measured by our modern instruments but what about our mental environment our growing negative tendency, which has also deviated towards negative zone.

We cannot lead a calm life, a peaceful life because it is counter productive, our modern lifestyle has turned each one of us to a defensive mentality.
We have to think before anything we do because nothing is natural, close to reality, water which was earlier a sign of life, a gift of nature is now a sign of pollutant illness and disease, we will not like to drink water directly from a natural source before processing or testing it.

Honesty Leads to Happiness

Honesty to Happiness

Walking in sunshine is no more safe, we have to use our own artificial protection to protect us from the natural gift sun rays.

Sun is the primary source of light, energy and food. It is responsible for protecting all forms of life on this planet.

It is responsible for light, air and wind, takes care of bio-diversity on this planet.

Today, the same sun and its sunshine which is still the primary source of energy on this planet on one hand is also a threat or dangerous to our skin, our health on other. Why?

We have our-self destroyed peace on this planet, our happiness, we are no more truthful and honest to ourselves, may be we have developed our mental powers, our ability to see and provide reasons/logical conclusion for anything that happens or we attempt, but this frequent processing, frequent thinking has snatched our peace, our happiness. We can cannot switch off our mind temporarily and then enjoy life.

The least initial deviation from the truth is multiplied later a thousandfold.  ~Aristotle

Aristotle’s above quote tells us the whole story in few words, we have actually deviated from nature and now we are fighting back to protect ourselves, we know more believe in honesty because honesty is natural, unabridged edition which doesn’t need any alteration, any addition or subtraction. It is what it really was. If we are honest then we do not need any thinking we can only remember things and then replay the series.

Truth fears no questions.  ~Unknown
We have developed a fear due to existing negative environment around us, a symptom similar to dishonesty. We are today surviving by reading and learning advantages and benefits of doing this and using that. We have to take care of everything actively, we cannot close our eyes and be ourselves for even some moments. We fear that we will lag behind, we will loose something.
We have developed our power of explanations and facts, world is more developed today then it was a century ago but world is also more dangerous today then it was a century ago, world needs more artificial protection today then before, everything seems to be on the brink of collapsing.

This is not all, today we have developed a wrong concept about honesty, we do not think of it as a natural tendency to enjoy happiness, we think it to be a difficult path, a way which can lead to unnecessary problems in our life. May be this is true today because our definition today has also shifted, now honesty is not a representation of natural outcomes (because nature is itself not natural anymore) but a presentation of the fact from our modern thinking.

Simple things makes a simple life, creating unnecessary twists can lead to unnecessary twists in life. Life is easy and we should enjoy life. Honest is a tool to keep things simple and manageable. Today honesty is a literary word, a keyword to be used to add more weight-age, there is no need to understand real philosophy of honesty and its positive consequences on our life.

Role of Difficulties and Problems in Our Life

Face Difficulties & Problems in Life to Reap Success

Difficulties and problems of Life lead to Success
Everything that happens in our life plays an important role in shaping our future and present. Difficulties and problems too have a positive as well as negative aspect on our life. They also act as a calibrating tool, a rating system of our life. Big players face bigger problems and small players face small problem but each one of them sees and treats them in somewhat similar fashion. Every difficult situation or problem that we solve or cross successfully increases our individual ranking in life and adds to our list of achievements in life besides boosting our confidence level and morale to tackle such situation in future.

Life is a continuous process, a journey. The moment we cease to move with life is the moment life ceases to exist. Look at non-living objects, life less things around us, they don’t react to anything, they are not perturbed with changing environment, degrading situations because life isn’t supported within them.

Things that seem to be difficulties or problems of our life are actually milestones of our life, we have to cross them one after the other. We can look at these circumstances as a quality test (Quality Control of Life) or challenge. Whether we want to qualify a test or accept a challenge is a personal choice, we can also ignore such situations right from the start and look for other easier alternative ways to move in life. Although we are all human beings and are neither willing to work for qualifying a test or accepting a challenge and working on it. All we want is to somehow pass the test, win the challenge with our lazy lifestyle (improving lifestyle is actually the biggest difficulty we face, we want to but we can’t). We are not willing to ignore such situations as we cannot ignore the achievements it can bring in our life.

These problems and difficulties that we face in our day to day life are not forced on us but they are natural ingredients of life. A reaction for our wants, our greed or our willingness to get more from life in society, family, job, career, relationship, eduction, health, children, satisfaction etc.

The problem that a person faces or difficulty that he/she feels is always unique for him/her. Even similar looking circumstances do not produce same level of difficulties for two persons. They get and feel there own unique version of the problem which also gives some reflection of his/her own personality. Those who tend to think more will feel more perturbed then those who prefer to work more then to think. Have you seen a hurdle race and its participants, they all have same task to achieve but have slightly different physical and mental preparation.

How much we achieve in life indicates how well we performed our duties everyday. Sense of achievement isn’t a tangible object or a social status or a measurement of wealth its just a feeling, a view, a thought about our own self. It also indicates whether we looked at everyday tasks, difficulties and surrounding problems as a difficulty or problem only or as an opportunity to find a solution.

A small change in our mind-set, in our views and assumptions can bring a lot of change in how well we perform and how much we can achieve. Try to think about the solutions and you will loose tension of the problems.

It is easier to compare our conditions and circumstances with others who we think have had destiny on there side. We often think that others get easier tasks and better rewards. This is one of the easiest way to hide our failures, laziness from our own self. An excuse for under performance.

We create more problems and difficulties in our mind then what actually exists(read more in this blog at life is an illusion of mind and infinite loop called life) and then we tell our-self look its not me but the adverse circumstances, situations that are root cause of these difficulties and problems. Life spares none and we have to be prepared to keep progressing in our life in every aspect of life.
